A Hidden Surprise

One day, in the coldest part of December, I looked out my window and noticed a tiny nest in my front yard tree. It was so tiny, and well hidden because my tree had many nuts hanging on it that looked just like the nest.

I peeked in side and I saw two tiny eggs

Then I noticed the mama bird, a tiny hummingbird, come and sit in the nest.

Then I saw the hatched babies!

And over the next four weeks, they grew up into healthy hummingbirds.

Until one day they couldn't fit in the nest any more.

All grown up, they flew away. Bye little friends!
