General Information
Visitors on Campus/Classroom Interruptions
Please sign in at the office and pick up a name tag if you are visiting
the school. This includes volunteers. For the safety of the children,
unauthorized or "tagless" visitors are not allowed on campus.
Avoid interrupting the classes. All Fremont schools have a policy regarding
classroom interruptions. It is imperative that parents make after school
arrangements for pick up or child care, etc. prior to the start of the
school day. Lunches, money and other messages should be dropped off in the
office where students can pick them up at recess or leave a message on the
teacher's voice mail.

Reporting an Absence
Parents and guardians should call the school office recorder
(656-6411) to report an absence. Using this method saves time, as our
attendance clerk must call and verify any unexplained absences.

Missing School due to Family Emergency/Vacation
Some of our students will be going away for longer than the Spring
Vacation, and missing school days. If you are taking a trip and
your child will miss any school, please remember you MUST either call or
write a note to inform us before you leave. Also, if your trip will take your
child away from school for five or more school days, you may request an Independent
Study contract. To do so, submit a letter to your child's teacher
and requesting the contract at least one week before you leave. The teacher
will assign work for your child to do while away. You will need to come
in to meet with your teacher and sign the contract.

School Hours
Please note this year we have only one starting and dismissal time.
8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for all students in grades 1-6 with the exception
of Wednesdays, which is a minimum day, 8:30 to 1:15 p.m.
Starting this year, the kindergarten students will have two start times,
8:30 a.m. or 9:30 a.m.
Do not drop your children off early (before 8:20), unless they are getting
breakfast. There is no yard supervision until then, and we want to ensure the
children's safety.

Hold Harmless/Medication
The California Education Code, Section 49432, and FUSD AR 51412 states
that the school cannot administer any medication to students unless a
hold harmless form is completed by the parent and the physician. A form
for this purpose is available in the office. These regulations apply
to "over the counter" as well as prescription medications. The
medication must be in the original containers with the label intact and must
be kept in the office. The students must come to the office to take
the medication. State law prohibits students from bringing medication,
presription or non-prescription, thie their pockets, lunch box, backpack,
etc. Left-over prescriptions should be picked up at the end of the year.

FUSD Parent Handbook and Notice of Rights
Parents receive the FUSD Parent Handbook and Notice of Rights each September. This

you have concerns about your child's education experience. Please take time to review
it and keep it handy for reference throughout the school year.

Press Filming or Taping Your Child on Campus
Often videos and photographs are taken to share school programs. These
videos may appear on televison. Also, photographs and articles may appear
in the press. Some parents are very sensitive about having their children
appear in the media. If you do not wish your child to be filmed or photographed,
please ask your child not to participate in these activities. Also, please
write a brief note requesting your child not appear and turn it into the Principal.
Note: The news media has certain access rights while they cover the news, and
the school and district will not always be able to intervene.

How to Prepare Your Child for Tests
Parents can help by making sure that students do the following:
- Be at school. Please avoid scheduling medical and other appointments which would
have your child away from class during this time.
- Get plenty of sleep. A well-rested child will perform better.
- Eat a nutritious breakfast. Well fed "brain cells" function best.
- Be positive and do not apply too much pressure. Students will perform better if they
feel self-confident and supported by their families and schools. They need to know that we
feel they CAN do well.
- Do not send your students to school ill. Though tests are an important tool
for both students and teachers, students will not perform well if they are not feeling up to par.
