Female students are not excused from participation during menstruation. After a second consecutive day, a doctor's note or personal call from the parent would be appreciated. Student's with a doctor's excuse must dress out unless physically disabled. Missed assignments will need to be made up at a later date. Student's dress and participate but do not do timed runs while fasting. Timed runs and other missed assignments are made up when the fasting time ends.

    PHYSICAL EDUCATION ATTIRE

One of the nice things about junior high is being able to dress out for your P.E. class. There are no showers so remember to take your clothes home to wash, often! You will dress out everyday. You will have your own locker and take care of your own clothes, lock, etc. Be sure to use your lock to secure your clothes! You can purchase P.E. clothes at Horner anytime during the year. All clothes will be marked during the first week of school with your first and last name. You will need a good pair of tennis shoes that tie( no vans) and any color of clean socks. Sweats may be used during cold weather and should be white or light gray and will also be marked with your name. Clothing prices are as follows:

    Blue shorts - $15
    Gray shirt - $15
    Sweatshirt - $15
    Sweatpant - $15
    Horner Logo Backpack - $5

    LOCKS & LOCKERS

All students need a combination lock to use daily in the locker room. Please NO KEY LOCKS. Master locks will be available for sale ($5) at Horner, or you may bring your own combination lock. STUDENTS ARE REMINDED TO LOCK UP ALL YOUR BELONGINGS WHEN IN PE AND TO SECURE YOUR LOCK WHEN YOU LEAVE. Detention may be assigned for unlocked locks that present a problem. Please be advised that according to the Horner Assignment Book there are to be no spray cans or glass bottles at school. Sunscreen is advised for daily use as are wide brimmed, district approved hats. Deodorant should be of the roll-on type.

    LOANERS

Loaners are available in the locker room office on a limited basis for students who forget their clothes. Parents will be notified the first time that loaners are borrowed.(notice is sent home to be signed or phone call is made) The second and third time results in a lunch detention and the fourth and successive times after will result in Saturday detention. Students are not allowed to borrow clothes from other students or Saturday detention is assigned. Students may not wear p.e. clothes at school except during the class itself. Parents are notified by the Vice Principal for lunch and Saturday detentions.

    ABSENCES

Physical Education is a participation class, it is your responsibility to make up absences and to check with your teacher to make up missed tests. A medical excuse that extends for 3 weeks or beyond results in a drop from the p.e. class and placement in medical p.e. with the V.P. No credit or grade is given for that quarter.

Mrs. Trubey's: MAKE UP ASSIGNMENT 1 : For each class that is missed the student is required to do 60 minutes of activity outside of class. The student must write a paragraph on the activity completed and have it signed by a parent. Work is due the last day of each quarter to be counted for that quarter only. MAKE UP ASSIGNMENT 2 : Attend a sporting event at Horner. Sign in. Stay for the entire game. Tests and timed runs must be made up with the teacher. NO LATE WORK IS ACCEPTED ! Independent study contract work differs from the above.

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS FOR IHS STUDENTS, GIRL and BOY SCOUTS, ETC.

Mrs. Trubey is always in need of workers for Maze days, Back to School Night, Open House, and school socials where she is the chair for 2008-09 PTSA. We also need B game refs for volleyball and basketball, score book and clock operators. Look for the dates for these events in my web page or contact Mrs. Trubey for info.
