Donations Needed

With the current funding crisis in California education, parents are being asked to help close the gap by providing extra supplies, equipment and even dollars. Besides general classroom requirements, (CORE 7th grade English and World History) detailed below, special programs including sports, science, band, chorus and drama need your help. (Check the specific web page under the "Programs" header on the home page for requests or ideas.)

CORE DEPARTMENT SUPPLY DONATIONS: The CORE (7th grade English and World History) Department needs your help. Instead of a fundraiser, we are suggesting classroom supplies that can be directly donated to the CORE Department. Theses items are available in a variety of stationery and office supply stores. CORE teachers throughout the school year will accept them. Thank you for your help!

Printer cartridges ** Glue sticks ** Markers ** White board pens ** Crayons Overhead pens ** Construction paper ** Tagboard ** Colored pencils ** Binder paper ** Staplers ** Tape ** Transparencies ** Paints/brushes ** Scissors ** Tissue boxes ** Pencils ** File folders ** 3x5 index cards.

To make a donation, make your check out to Horner Junior High, and send it in with your child or pop it in the mail to 41365 Chapel Way, Fremont, CA 94538. Indicate which program you wish to support in the memo line on your check, or write 'general' if you would like it go to the program with the most need.

Donating Computers and Electronics

If you decide to donate a computer or other used electronic devices, please check with the school office first. Some items, especially older computers and printers, cannot be supported by our MIS team and end up actually costing the school money to be recycled or disposed of correctly.

BEFORE You Make a Donation

Before you donate, does your company or organization offer an employee match program? We've doubled and even quadrupled our buying dollars through the match of donations from parents employed by local companies like Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, etc. Ask your Benefits department if your donation qualifies and what to do to apply BEFORE you send your money.
